France's continuing neo-colonial role in Africa gets little media attention, such as its exploitation of Western African states to obtain important resources such as uranium for its nuclear energy system. While many West Africans don't even have a functioning power supply, French citizens enjoy a low-cost, stable energy grid.

Well said Ms. Turner. It seeks to reestablish its hegemony over Africa for resource extraction, while the people living in these Francophone countries are left the pay the price of the exploitation

All coloniasm was and is morally wrong and in reality about economic exploitation and so-called strategic gain. Everything else is duplicitous propaganda.

Yes its such a shame that you live in a country that benefitted so much from it.

"Hmmmm....", I mumble whilst removing tinfoil cap and scratch head wondering why I feel like a Cassandra. Been talking of Gaddafi's (and Saddam's) removals due to their demands to be paid for oil in gold and their plans for gold backed replacements of imposed, western currencies for years...

Ooh, that sounds a nice and tidy narrative. Did the protagonists get the girl and live happily ever after?

It is so sad to hear what the Devil IsRael states of america and its disciple the United Kingdom of the Devil IsRael done to Libya. IF they had let the Angel Ghaddafi shape Africa, we all could have enjoyed it, as opposed to seeing the Devil destroy it.

Just FYI: USA's disciple is the entity that indoctrinated and taught the young Gaddafi "how to rule" that country ...

Facts go much deeper than are ever made public for the gullible plebes.

Excellent post. Gaddafi was not the only leader who had to be removed for having the temerity to suggest a common gold based currency to replace the petro dollar, Hussein and Abbas has also gone down that road. The sheer stupidity of the NATO powers in destroying Libya is staggering, Gaddafi had twice warned the West that Libya was the bulwark which stood between a Muslim invasion and Europe, how right he was. It also what a vindictive and cruel piece of shit Hillary Clinton is as she revelled in Gaddafis murder, “we came, we saw, he died”.

The Western powers simply want to stay on top and to that end will subjugate any way it can including starting a war.

Depriving countries of their resources and forcing them into the clutches of the IMF who use debt as a ball and chain.

Well written Mr. Hale. I had no idea about the French objectives to reassert control over North Africa and obtain resources like oil, but it makes sense. I think also that Gaddafi's gold reserves and pan-African currency and their usage irked the elite enough for them to seek to eliminate him. The imperialists would not tolerate a leader who wanted to do something to benefit his people and not be easily pliable to their control

Of course, you're aware of the cruelty Gaddafi inflicted on his own people, aren't you. Or is that a small issue?

No one is saying it's a "small issue", don't speak on my behalf. It was wrong that he committed injustices against his people, but he also sought to build up his nation, make Libya a stronger nation economically and create a pan-African currency, these are things which are commendable, in my view. And what right did any of the other nations have to eliminate him? Libya has suffered considerably since then.

Every is like always and never. They rarely actually apply.

I remember Bosnia and those people's lives are better now than before the US intervention under Clinton.

I also remember Kumait, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya and I concur with your premise in the majority, and it's also true that "every" and "always" always apply when trump is behind it

Thank you for your reporting.
