Surveillance beyond the known big tech companies. Indonesia is a center for one such company many have never heard of: First Wap. Phone access surveillance via cell phone networks using phone companies in Liechtenstein & Indonesia. Investigative reporting discovered such surveillance & tracking by this company of Rwandan dissident(s) probably resulted in the assassination of the groups leader. Also, everyday people were flund to be tracked! Yikes! Not sure we can ever be free of this surveillance until gov'ts are pushed to seriously regulate & hold accountable those who use it for other than truly protecting society from crime.

This is extremely disturbing to say the least, as it would wrongfully surveil citizens across the nation, making manifest Mr. Orwell's grim idea of "Big Brother" watching us in '1984'. It seems with each passing day, the world Mr. Orwell envisioned draws closer to reality, how prescient his words in '1984' have proven. You're right, I feel that this facial recognition and surveillance would NOT put citizens at ease, and in fact make people more worried that their private lives were being wrongly monitored and tracked. The example you give about nefarious actors like predators gaining real-time access to monitoring people's activities is extremely concerning and a very legitimate worry with this LFR.

We must not acquiesce to intimidation and harassement from our public servants, which they can only do when hiding as an official of a ''government corporation''. We must challenge them and hold them accountable as the living wo/man as to their interference in our lives.
For example, ''I'm Peter, what's your name? Hi (their first name), tell me are you acting as an officer of a ''police force'' here today or as a constable acting under your sworn oath?'' ''Because if you're trying to impose corporate policy on me as an officer, you are breaking your oath to keep the peace by disturbing mine''.
Essentially, we must stand up as the living wo/man to dismiss the corporate cradle-to-grave indoctrination that man-made entities can overrule our inherent standing under God.

(though good luck with them identifying anyone, I have yet to see one of those facial recognition thingies work at borders. Unless its my face which breaks them!)
