Not sure you have to be a neoliberal to oppose Putin trampling through Ukraine. The notion that standing up to a homicidal psychotic in the Kremlin who has manipulated the orange fool in the White House, whose desire for self-aggrandizement is only matched by his desire to accumulate super-riches into an even smaller cabal than now, means you want World War III is bizarre. Obviously I can't speak to Starmer's personal motivations, and it's hard not to question them on many levels - it may well be that his mantra that we must have growth has killed off a good number of his brain cells - but I'm pretty sure he's not got to the point of wanting a nuclear armageddon. On Israel and Gaza, the starvation comments were obviously hard to stomach but Starmer is about my age and I think many people of my generation and older were brought up believing that Israel were totally the good guys. That was enough for us as kids and early teenagers because most people of that age were not terribly politically engaged. As we became more so, awareness of the Holocaust meant we still gave Israel's government the benefit of the doubt. Now we see Netenyahu and his enabling far-right friends for what he - and they - are. Which is as extreme in their way as any nominated terrorist group - without the bad press. And that cuts to the crux of the problem. The mainstream media, terrified by Jewish lobbying interests of being accused of anti-Semitism, or because they are in some circumstances in accord with those interests, remains biased or over-cautious. Starmer, as a former human rights lawyer, should be better informed but he has backed himself into his own corner by his treatment of Corbyn and the conclusions of Labour's report into anti-Semitism in the party. Maybe that in itself exposes his duplicity but technically the US under Trump are rowing back on the Budapest agreement that took away Ukraine's nuclear weapons. Putin would surely not have even interfered in Crimea had they still been in situ. As the UK was party to that agreement we don't really have any choice but to at least speak up on behalf of the people of Ukraine. No one sane wants to see more bloodshed but I really can't see how Trump selling out to Putin actually helps world peace. It merely encourages thuggish behaviour on an international scale, wherever it comes from and arguably makes the world more dangerous and subject to the whims of powerful, rich narcissists I don't think believing that makes you either a lunatic or a neoliberalism.

I picked up on the W Bush reference immediately, too. And was struck by the memories of the masses cheering the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, music blasting from car radios .. “ Yakkity Yak, Bomb Iraq”, It was patriotic.Brainwashing. The WMDS! Two comments Bush made during separate pressers stuck with me. Really ate away at me and gave me pause. The first was Bush making the case for going to war with Iraq to “ Protect our ally, poor little Kuwait”. Poor little Kuwait, at the time the wealthiest nation per capita on the face of the Earth. Poor little oil rich Kuwait. Who was benefitting at the cost of our young men and women, our economy, national security and that was prior to rebuilding Iraq.

The second was when the Iraqi missiles were targeting Israel to retaliate against the U.S. invasion .The Israelis were suffering the collateral damage from a war they weren’t involved in and didn’t support. While they were freaking out, Bush’s response was, “ Be patient”.

And I still can’t figure out what led to invading Afghanistan to get Bin-Laden ? He was in Pakistan the whole time ,but. Al Qaeda was formed in Saudi Arabia -a Sunni Salafist Movement spin-off of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood.

Ironic. The Muslim Brotherhood (and its many tentacles including Hamas,Hezbollah,Houthis,Al Nusra,Daesh,Boko Haram) has been banned as a terror entity and sponsor by Egypt,Bahrain,Saudi Arabia,UAE,Morocco… but not the U.S.

And while everybody on the left is beating it collective chest labeling anybody right of Stalin “ fascist, racist, Nazi,Putin Puppets, misogynist, homophobic”.. in support of “ Ukraine’s Democracy”. Ukraine is all white with a huge swathe of “ Proud Nazis” and the “Islamophobes, racists, xenophobes, homophobes, misogynists, Nazis, fascists , White Supremacists” protecting the poor , innocent, kind , tolerant, progressive Palestinian victims”

We're not going to get involved in a US proxy war. A war conceived by the previous bunch of lunatics in the White House to drain Russia. Now they're walking away, there's no reason to support US puppet Zelensky with resources we don't have. The lunacy of having Ukraine in NATO, and expecting Russia to tolerate missiles on its border (we don't even tolerate inflatables in the Channel), must surely be over.

Starmer is tone deaf and has a history of not being able to read the room. He can push but he won't get his way.

He is a deeply unimpressive pencil neck of the worst kind.

World War II was the deadliest military conflict in history. An estimated total of 70–85 million deaths were caused by the conflict, representing about 3% of the estimated global population of 2.3 billion in 1940.[1] Deaths directly caused by the war (including military and civilian fatalities) are estimated at 50–56 million, with an additional estimated 19–28 million deaths from war-related disease and famine. Civilian deaths totaled 50–55 million. Military deaths from all causes totaled 21–25 million, including deaths in captivity of about 5 million prisoners of war. More than half of the total number of casualties are accounted for by the dead of the Republic of China and of the Soviet Union. What's 3% of 9 billion? Probably be over to 50% if it goes nuclear, though I suppose Starmer will have to ask for Trident launch codes back of America 🤔

I am so glad you are raising your voice. The troll armies pushing the proxy war in Ukraine are formidable. Not all that noise or criticism you are getting is representative nor real.

You know perhaps that Starmers labor did a purge of any members who were speaking out against arming Ukraine? And critical of the proxy war? This was at the beginning of the conflict in 2022 pre elections.

Starmer is former MI6. He will have a whirlwind of fake content and fake opinion around him. The thing is most people seriously are not paying attention. It's about de platforming, marginalizing, silencing, villanizing bankrupting, bullying anyone with reach. Creating an atmosphere of fear for those who are better informed, but are concerned about things like job security and even friendships.

In this way those pushing this war have been rewriting history and international law, have stolen hundreds of billions in sovereign and private wealth and have destabilized, if not destroyed the European economy. It's a vulture capitalist wet dream, a multiple course dinner for US and London financial capitalists/ hedge funds.

Maybe he'll see Sir Tony Blair and others for the Illegal War Of Aggression To Conquer Iraq And Murder Its Leaders And Control It's Oil And Money and Bank Accounts and Cash.

The one where they all lied lied snd lied some more and invaded Iraq killing who can count that high many children women and men. But a lot. Sending millions and changing the demographics and creating more violence until today...

Surely if he thinks it's wrong for one country (Russia) invading another (Ukraine) next door that he must believe it was wrong for Britain USA Italy and Spain to invade Iraq....which none of the Agreessors even had a border with...

So I'll take it more seriously when I see "Sir" Tony Blair in the prison cell for mass murder under color of authority....

He wants British Troops in Crimea. Can you imagine the Warsaw Pact and Russia putting troops into Northern Ireland or Scotland or Ireland ???

He's willing to risk WW3 to eliminate Russian Speaking ethnic Russians in Ukraine.

I can't believe the people against negotiating peace. Yeah, Trump’s probably the worst person to do it, but apparently nobody else is up to the task, and Ukraine was never in a million years going to win this without someone starting WWIII. If Starmer wants that, good luck attacking Russia without the USA's backing, because Trump is done, and it's the one good thing to come out of the Trump administration.

Even if all the outlandish claims about Russian bloodthirst were true, Ukraine and Europe can't do anything about it. Russia itself had to suffer under the Tarar yoke for a long time after the Mongols defeated them, so it's pretty simple really if the USA has had enough. Get along with Russia or suffer.
