This cherry-picking of emails and taking things out of context and the total inability to understand people routinely use terms like “kill” or “slay” or “dead” in slang terms. It's disgraceful that there are any redactions at all. This is a global matter, not limited to US, and the people of the world have a right to know about potential criminal activity amongst those who are supposedly "leaders" (whether elected or otherwise).
In my opinion:
- the unredacted (save to protect the child victims) files must be released;
- every person who appears to be guilty of an offence should be taken to trial;
- any of those people holding public office should be suspended pending trial;
- any person found guilty should be punished to the fullest extent of the law (to include seizure and redistribution of all assets globally, including those hidden in trusts, and the return of capital punishment where appropriate);
- given the nature of the offences and perpetrators it may be appropriate to consider international courts;
- all trials should be recorded and published unredacted (save for blurring etc. to protect victim identities) to ensure full public transparency.
The sentencing, and where appropriate execution, should be in the public eye in the same way as the trials. This will serve as an example to others, and while victims and families can obviously never forget the horrors it will hopefully provide them with some sense of closure.
