There isn’t the motive in the population to send our troops and they already know there’s no honour fighting for the likes of any one in current government for they’ve betrayed continuously since 1945.
I believe the rule about conscripts only being allowed to fight in defence of their country and on their own territory, already is the case in Russia. Only volunteers and contract soldiers are sent to the front.
We have more food banks than McDonald's and more McDonald's than the rest of Europe combined and Trumps tariffs are basically BDS against the whole world so I guess maybe the Russians want a happy meal and we can stop buying anything to do with one little genocidal entity until they stop murdering innocents......
Since WMD Blair and the terrible and tragic crime which destroyed Iraq one thing has been clear : the decision of war and peace can never be left to politicians. Only a referendum can justify a declaration of war and no military action should be undertaken without that declaration.
One of the greatest freedoms enjoyed by the people of Britain was freedom from compulsory military service in the king’s wars. This ended in 1916. Time to rediscover this lost freedom.

It would very much depend on who the war was against. I'd go if conscripted to fight against Israel or USA (our most likely invader), no-one else threatens us or our way of life. Conscription is moot for me at my age, though, but I'd still not like to see our youngsters fed to the military meatgrinder.
