As a kid I learned about the horrors of WW1 in History class at school - read all the war poets - Owen, Sassoon, Graves - and I could not understand how those in power had sent so many young men to die horribly in a pointless and immoral war. I supposed they were just ignorant bastards left over from the last century who didn’t really understand what they were unleashing. I was quite sure nothing like that could ever happen again - ok WW2 but we were the good guys and that was all Hitler’s fault right? But no - instead of learning from these terrible wars - Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine - we just get worse. It’s quite incredible how our politicians pretend they are moral, right thinking human beings when they are actually monsters, fully aware of the evil they are committing. I really can’t quite believe how they can be like this… They lie to their own people; they pontificate. How do they sleep at night?! For the rest of us we are awake in a nightmare beyond anything imaginable.

How do they sleep? Somehow they manage to compartmentalise these issues, side stepping the cognitive dissonance that you would expect. The financial incentives are strong and built in to a political system inherently war mongering.

I'm guessing it must take its toll eventually though, have you noticed that haunted look in the multimillionaire Tony Blair's eyes?

Hi Paul, you may be right but I’m always a little wary of overly adamant people, would you mind sharing your working out?

Elements of that too, who is actually totally immune to 75+ years of weapon grade gaslighting?

Paul - why did my comment trigger that response? Perhaps the ‘gaslighting’ either worked particularly well or wasn’t actually required in your case.

UK has been at the exact same spot once upon a time… some 50 years ago or thereabouts.

Economic crisis, rising public debt, deepening class divide, rising racism especially within police, myriad of foreign policy blunders… it all, at the time, have birth to outcry anthem "God Save The Queen" by Sex Pistols (not into pank-rock personally, but this one's so much more than just a song). The song's provocative nature and the establishment's shocked reaction only served to amplify its message and solidify its place as an anthem of discontent. Just as recent Glastonbury performers did exactly the same thing about the issues of today.

What did the establishment do back then? The exact same thing they are doing today. Censorship and prosecution. The controversy surrounding "God Save The Queen" ultimately became a masterclass in how censorship can inadvertently boost a movement, and this is blind to happen today. Will rising tide actually turn into cunami wave that'll drown hypocrisy and 'wash the filth away'? Dunno… I wish for something, anything that'll stop genocide in Palestine.

Your title for the article says it all. We need to spread this. US was always a hot bed for antiwar protests. Lets test the system and proclaime death to xxxx. Fill in the blank with any military name. Lets see if the threat of criminal prosecution applies ONLY to the IDF.

I am 75 years old. Throughout my life, I have witnessed many atrocities, even in my own country. But nothing as painful and atrocious as this genocide perpetrated by the Zionists. This instrument of destruction and death, this anti-life entity called Israel, must be dismantled from the roots up and forever. It is impossible to coexist with this monster.

Of course, we must resist. However, until the main-stream media are able to print the forbidden "G-word" (i.e., genocide), we shall face an uphill battle with gale-force winds blowing in our faces...

"I'm guessing we won't be seeing supporters of this genocide cancelled, because while saying "death to the IDF" is unacceptable, death from the IDF is perfectly fine."

Doesn't this sum up the paradox of living in the West in the year 2025? We preach "freedom" and lock up a whole indigenous people in an open-air prison called Gaza. We say we stand for "justice" and we allow our henchmen to bomb children without mercy. It's time for Revolution, folks! We must lock up these evil war criminals and then things will be perfectly fine.

Excellent post. Anyhow, I’m not a wee bit surprised at the UKs attitude to this because I’m part, not a very big part, but a part nevertheless, Indian, and I’ve read about the British in India and how they treated the natives was shocking. The IDF should not be supported by anyone and certainty not the British.

Keep up the struggle. It won't end if we stop now. Their words, whether permitted or banned, are irrelevant. Cry them out. GENOCIDE, PALESTINE, GAZA, FREEDOM, NO MORE DEAD CHILDREN, NO MORE BOMBED HOSPITALS, NO MORE GENOCIDE.
